Five Dead, Dozens Trapped After Building Collapse In Iran

At least five people have been killed and dozens more feared trapped inside a 10-story commercial building collapsed in Abadan city in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province.

The Iranian Red Crescent said at least 80 people have been trapped under rubble, and were able to rescue 32 people so far.

“The Society sent one helicopter, 12 relief teams as well as two teams of search dogs to the scene,” the Crescent said in a statement.

Another 25 people were evacuated to the nearby hospital with minor and moderate injuries.

The relief operation is hardly underway.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps said that they will use everything in its disposal to immediately remove the injured people from the rubble and rescue the trapped individuals.

Large parts of the commercial building were reduced to rubble.
