Spain’s former King Juan Carlos will come home to the country on Thursday after nearly two years in exile in the United Arab Emirates.
The Royal Household said that Juan Carlos informed King Philip VI he would like to make his decision public to visit Spain from May 19 until Monday, May 23.
Carlos will arrive in the city of Vigo on Spain’s northwest coast on Thursday afternoon and will spend the night at Campos’ house.
“He is very glad to come and be here to recover after two years away and do something he likes so much, which is sailing,” Campos said.
Juan Carlos left Spain for Abu Dhabi in August 2020 following multiple investigations opened in Spain and Switzerland into alleged fraud.
