Bahrain Reiterates Commitment to Free and Independent Media

Bahrain has reiterated its commitment to the freedom of expression and free media as a necessary component to steer the Kingdom toward more development and prosperity.

In a statement marking the Bahrain Press Day, Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi appreciated the constant support of Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to the free press and independent media outlets.

“We are proud of the rich history of journalism and freedom of expression which is guaranteed by the constitution,” Al-Romaihi added.

Al-Romiahi also thanked the leadership in Bahrain for putting in place all requirements for the press and media institutions to carry its daily activities freely and independently.

“We can’t ignore the role of free media in accomplishing the Kingdom’s development and democratic process in different areas,” Al-Romiahi added.

Al-Romaihi said that this year’s Bahrain Press Day is celebrated in the midst of the Kingdom’s ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are thankful to Bahrain’s press and media institutions for providing accurate and impartial reports and playing an important role in the fight against the pandemic,” Al-Romiahi added.

Al-Romaihi also called on the media outlets to maintain more accuracy, professionalism, impartiality and responsibility while reporting on different affairs across the country.
