Fire Breaks Out at Russian Military Site Near Ukraine, Injures One

A fire broke out in a Russian defense facility in the southern Belgorod region near the border with Ukraine, injuring one person, the regional governor said on May 1.

“A fire broke out on the territory of one of the facilities of the Russian Defense Ministry on the border of three municipalities, the Borisovsky and Belgorodsky regions and the Yakovlevsky city district,” Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.

Gladkov later added that a local resident suffered minor injuries.

Gladkov also said that the fire also damaged seven homes.

Response teams were at the scene, Gladkov said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
