The Iraqi military said Tuesday that one soldier was killed and another one was injured after a suicide bomber targeted them north of Baghdad.
“One of the terrorists detonated his explosive vest when the army forces raided the terrorist hideout in al-Tarmiya district,” Shafaq News Agency reported, citing an Iraqi official.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the bomber blew himself up inside a den in the Al-Boghbin orchard in the Tarmiyah district.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Army’s Security Media Cell affirmed that “a joint force of the Sixth Division in the Baghdad Operations Command and the National Security Apparatus killed two terrorists, one of whom was the suicide bomber.”
The army did not provide further information about the operation and to which terrorist group the hideout belonged.
