Queen Elizabeth Celebrates 96th Birthday in Sandringham

Queen Elizabeth is celebrating her 96th birthday on Thursday in Sandringham with family and friends in her milestone jubilee year.

Queen Elizabeth was born in 1926 in London, where she lived with her parents, King George V and Queen Elizabeth.

A photograph from Royal Windsor Horse Show was published to mark the birthday, displaying the Queen with two ponies named Bybeck Nightingale and Bybeck Katie in front of the Windsor Castle.

Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, sent the Queen a birthday message on Twitter.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today! An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year,” the Duke and Duchess said in a tweet.

Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camila, Duchess of Cornwall, also sent a birthday message to the Queen.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a particularly special 96th birthday today, as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee year,” the Prince and Duchess said in a tweet.

The Queen’s 96th birthday also marks the Platinum Jubilee, as it has been seven decades since the Queen rose to the throne in 1952.

The Queen is also the longest-reigning British monarch and the first monarch to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.
