Fire Breaks out at Russian Air Defense Research Facility

A fire suddenly broke out at the Russian Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Troops in Tver.

The garrison manning the Russian Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Troops reported that the fire started in a room on the second floor of the administrative building before spreading 1.5 thousand square meters.

All facility staff have been evacuated while the alarm has reached the third level. 

There were 5 alleged fatalities so far but no official figures have been released.

At least 30 were also reportedly injured due to smoke inhalation and other physical injuries.  

“Currently, fire and rescue units are working at the facility, 14 ambulances have arrived. Medical assistance is being provided to the victims,” ​​said the press service of the government of the Tver region.

There has been no established cause for the fire yet but it was  suspected to have been caused by a faulty power grid.
