A mass shooting in a South Carolina club injured at least nine people in the early hours of April 17, according to state officials.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said that it received a request from the Hampton County Sheriff’s office to investigate the shooting that occurred at Cara’s Lounge in the small town of Furma..
“At this time, there are no fatalities,” SLED said in a statement.
SLED did not release information on the severity of the victim’s injuries or a possible motive for the shooting.
The incident is the second mass shooting in South Carolina to occur over the Easter weekend.
On April 16, a shooting at the Columbiana Centre Mall in Columbia injured 14 people.
Authorities have not suggested that the two incidents are related.
