Israel Says It Successfully Tests New “Iron Beam” Laser Missile Defense System

Israel successfully tested its new “Iron Beam” laser missile defense system which can intercept any kind of aerial object starting from missiles, rockets, and even drones.

Israel Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that the laser system would be established around Israel’s borders in the future.

According to Gantz, the laser system has successfully intercepted mortars, rockets, and anti-tank missiles during the recent tests which took place in the Negev desert last month.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett took to Twitter to announce the successful trials of “Iron Beam.”

“This is the world’s first energy-based weapons system that uses a laser to shoot down incoming UAVs, rockets, and mortars at a cost of $3.50 per shot. It may sound like science fiction, but it’s real,” Bennett tweeted.

Bennett also thanked the Ministry of Defense and the defense industries for the “huge achievement.”
