Updated: At Least 29 Injured, Including 10 Shot, in Mass Shooting on NYC Subway in Brooklyn

New York police report that multiple people have been shot inside a subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

“Due to an investigation, avoid the area of 36th Street and 4th Avenue area in Brooklyn. Expect emergency vehicles and delays in the surrounding area,” said the NYPD.

At a press conference, NYPD described the suspect as a Black male who is about five feet five inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.

NYPD also said that officers are searching for a U-Haul van with Arizona license plates AL31408 that may be linked to the suspect.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a gas mask, green construction vest, and a gray sweatshirt. He was spotted throwing a device that resembled smoke grenades before opening fire on passengers.

A manhunt is still underway to find the attacker and New York City Unified Victim Identification System (UVIS) has been activated.

Photos circulating social media purportedly show passengers who were shot lying on the ground bleeding.

At least 29 people, including 10 who were shot, were injured in the attack, according to hospital officials.
