The Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, arranged an evacuation flight to transport wounded Ukrainians to German hospitals.
The German Air Force’s flying intensive care unit, Airbus A310 MedEvac took flight from Cologne-Wahn this morning on its way to Rzeszow, Poland, to transport children and adults to Germany for treatment.
The Polish city of Rzeszow is located approximately 90 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
According to Germany, though wounded Ukrainian soldiers have been flown to Germany before, this is the first trip of its kind since the commencement of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Germany has also completed its 500 million euros financial loan to Ukraine, which will be used to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs affected by Russia’s invasion.
