Pentagon Claims Russian Forces Left Chernihiv and Kyiv Fronts

According to the Pentagon, around two-thirds of Russian forces employed to attack Ukraine’s capital have left Kyiv and are refitting in Belarus.

On February 24, Putin sent over 125 battalion tactical units into Ukraine, and despite the reports of two-thirds of the forces retreating, the majority of those units are alleged to still be near the city of Kyiv and all over Ukraine.

“What we continue to believe is that they’re going to be refit, resupplied, perhaps maybe even reinforced with additional manpower, and then sent back into Ukraine to continue fighting elsewhere,” said a Pentagon senior defense official.

The Pentagon also confirmed that the US will continue to supply weaponry and supplies to Ukraine’s soldiers, using a $300 million pool of money that has been allotted to “Get these needed capabilities into Ukraine, a process that is being rushed.”

The Pentagon has called the Russian pullback from Kyiv “heartening” but also warned that “No one is calling this a Ukrainian victory; though, Putin’s goal to overthrow Ukraine’s elected government has been thwarted.”

“Mr. Putin has achieved exactly zero of his objectives inside Ukraine. He didn’t take Kyiv. He didn’t topple the government. He didn’t remove Ukraine as a nation-state.” expressed John Kirby, The Press Secretary of the Pentagon in a tweet.
