UK’s Portsmouth NHS and Ambulance Service Declare COVID related “Critical Incident”

The Portsmouth NHS Trust and ambulance service have declared a critical incident, due to staff shortages caused by COVID-19.

“Due to extreme pressures on services, we have declared a critical incident at QA Hospital. We have limited space to treat patients with life threatening conditions and injuries,” said Portsmouth Hospitals University NHST.

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHST told citizens not to attend ED unless it is an emergency and to not call 999 unless there is an actual emergency because of ambulance shortages.

“We will be reviewing the situation regularly and thank you for all your support during this difficult and busy time,” added Portsmouth Hospitals University NHST.
