Third Arrest Made After Sacramento Shooting That Killed Six, Wounded 12

Police on April 4 arrested a third suspect in connection to the mass shooting in Sacramento, California that killed six and wounded 12 others earlier this week.

Sacramento Police said in a statement on April 5 that officers arrested 31-year-old Daviyonne Dawson on charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Dawson, however, does not face charges with crimes directly related to the shootings at this time, police said.

Detectives identified Dawson as a man seen carrying a gun in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, according to the statement.

Detectives also recovered a handgun, but they do not believe the gun was used in the shooting based on the type of firearm.

The investigation is ongoing to identify additional suspects, police said.

Earlier this week, police arrested 26-year-old Dandrae Martin and his 27-year-old brother Smiley.

Dandrae faces of assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm while Smiley faces charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a machine gun.
