German Authorities Seize Hydra Darknet Servers

The prosecutor’s office of Frankfurt am Main along with German federal criminal police have taken down the Hydra Market.

Police have seized Hydra Market’s Servers alongside 543 BTC ($25m) from the illegal online market.

“The illegal marketplace was a Russian-language Darknet platform that had been accessible via the Tor network since at least 2015. Their focus was on trading in illegal narcotics. In addition, data spied out worldwide, forged documents, and digital services were offered profitably via the platform,” said the prosector’s office. 

Police also found the data of 17 million customers and over 19,000 seller accounts that were being used in Hydra Market.

According to Ciphertrace, Hydra Market served customers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Moldova.

Hydra Market has been investigated since August 2021 and has also been flagged by US authorities.
