German Federal prosecutors have charged a former Bundeswehr reservist officer with espionage.
According to prosecutors, Lt. Col Ralph G., a deputy head of a district liaison command and was a member of several German business committees gave information to Russian intelligence agents from October 2014 until March 2020.
Among the information given to Russian intelligence included documents related to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, Bundeswehr officer contact information, personal data, and data on the reserve system of the Bundeswehr.
“In return for his services, the accused received invitations to events organized by Russian government agencies,” said the Office of the Federal Public Prosecutor.
Ralph G’s trial is set to take place at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
