More than 49,000 Pieces of Wreckage from China Eastern Airline Flight MU5735 Recovered

Chinese authorities have found 49,117 pieces of China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 and identified its passengers.

Zhu Tao, head of the aviation safety office of the Civil Aviation Administration of China said that black box recovery efforts took a week while passenger identification took 8.

Zhang Zhiwen, an official with the government of South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said that they have analyzed 400,000 square meters of the crash site and 22,700 cubic meters of excavated soil.

DNA testing reportedly involved 20 DNA experts while there were no confirmed survivors.

MU5735’s black boxes are still being decoded while a public finding is expected to be released after investigations are over.

“We will leave no stone unturned to find out the cause of the accident and prevent similar accidents from happening again,” said Zhu.
