U.S. to Welcome 100,000 Ukrainian Refugees

The White House confirmed that the United States announced plans of accepting up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.

In a fact sheet posted on its website, the White House said this is apart from the $1 billion humanitarian aid that they will b extending.

According to the White House, Ukrainian refugees and others fleeing Russia’s aggression will be welcomed through the full range of legal pathways, including the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.

“The United States and the European Union are also coordinating closely to ensure that these efforts, and other forms of humanitarian admission or transfers, are complementary and provide much-needed support to Ukraine’s neighbors,” the White House said.

The $1 billion funding is said to provide food, shelter, clean water, medical supplies, and other forms of assistance.

An additional $30 million in democracy and human rights funding has also been set aside for Ukraine and its neighbors.
