Iranian Health Ministry’s Public Relations Center said on Wednesday that they have registered 1,123 new COVID-19 cases and 67 related deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 7,144,532.

270 patients have been hospitalized during the same span of time, the ministry said in a statement, adding that 6,837,721 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals so far.

The ministry said that “unfortunately with 67 new deaths the tally reached to 139,802 people”, and lamented that 1,816 cases infected with COVID-19 are in critical conditions.

The health ministry warned that “29 cities are rated red, 126 cities are orange, 278 cities are yellow, and 15 cities are blue.”

In August, Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi said that the country “will import millions of doses of COVID-19 vaccine,” stressing the necessity for providing millions more jabs to give immunity to the society.
