Biden to Sanction Russian Lawmakers by Thursday

U.S. President Joe Biden has prepared sanctions to hundreds of Russian lawmakers as part of the fresh wave of sanctions against Russia.

The sanctions will affect 400 individuals including 328 members of Russia’s State Duma, the lower house of parliament, and senior Russian officials, according to a Wall Street Journal report

The 450-member State Duma and the 170-member Federation Council make up the Russian Federal Assembly, which has the constitutional authority to control the country’s economic issues.

Earlier this month, the United States imposed sanctions on 12 members of the Duma and family members of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Biden is set to make the announcement during his trip to Brussels where he is scheduled to meet NATO leaders.
