Dmitry Muratov, a Russian journalist who was a co-winner of last year’s Nobel Peace Prize, said that he would donate his medal to an auction that will provide Ukrainian refugees with monetary support.
According to Muratov’s published article, he said that “Novaya Gazeta and I have chosen to gift the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize Medal to the Ukrainian Refugee Fund.”
Muratov added that “With over 10 million refugees already on the move, I implore auction houses to respond and put this world-famous prize up for auction this world-famous award.”
As Russian forces continue to fight Ukraine forces, Muratov and the Novaya Gazeta explained that there are five things that must be done, “Stop combat fire, exchange prisoners, release the bodies of the dead, provide humanitarian corridors and assistance, and support refugees.”
Muratov shared last year’s Nobel Peace Prize with a fellow journalist from the Philippines, Maria Ressa.
