Chinese Officials Confirn No Survivors in Flight MU5735 Crash

The US Federal Aviation Administration expressed its intent to contribute to the investigation of the crash.forested mountainous area in China.

After its departure from Kunming in the Yunan province, the Boeing 737-800 crashed near Wuzhou in the Guangxi region on its way to the city of Guangzhou. 

China Eastern Flight 5375 which carried 123 passengers and 9 crew members, traversed on air at 29,000 feet then made a steep drop an hour into the flight to 7,400 feet, regained altitude at 1,200 feet, then crashed to its demise.

President Xi Jinping called for an “all-out” rescue effort, as well as an investigation into the incident and the complete safety of civil aviation.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Rescuers are actively searching for the aircraft’s flight data recorders, which should contain data from the cockpit’s instruments and sounds. 

The crash occurred as the country’s airline industry struggles to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, with air passenger traffic substantially below 2019 levels due to multiple outbreaks and a sharp drop in overseas travel due to China’s rigorous quarantine restrictions.
