Iran Blames Israeli Air Strike That Destroyed Hundreds of Drones

Iran blames Israel for an aerial attack that caused heavy damage to Iran’s drone network, with several estimates saying that hundreds of drones were destroyed.

The strike on the base in Kermanshah was carried out in mid-February by at least six attack drones.

The attack caused major damage to Iran’s drone fleet.

Israel and Iran did not immediately comment on the strike, but report says that the recent Iranian missile attack on Erbil governorate in Iraq was a response to this strike on the airbase.

Iran claimed responsibility for the attack on Erbil, saying it targeted an Isreali military base. However, Kurdistan’s government denies the claim, saying the rockets hit a civilian facility.

Iran has been using drones extensively in recent years throughout the Middle East, also Tehran accused of giving some drones to proxy forces (Houthis) in Yemen as well to Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria.

Israeli forces last month said they have downed one Hezbollah drone.

“Our troops downed a Hezbollah drone that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli airspace,” the country’s armed forces reported on Twitter at that time.

“We will continue to prevent any attempt by Hezbollah to violate Israeli sovereignty,” the military said.
