Fox News Cameraman Killed by Russian Forces in Ukraine

Veteran Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski died after his vehicle was fired upon by Russian forces in Horenka, outside Kyiv, Ukraine.

The news comes one day after Fox announced that correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was with Zakrzewski had been injured. but did not give further details.

“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for Fox News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us,” said Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott.

Zakrzewski reportedly helped Afghan freelance associates and their families out of the country after the U.S. withdrawal last year and received the Unsung Hero” award at the annual employee Spotlight Awards.

Zakrzewski had been in Ukraine since February and was based in London.

“Today is a heartbreaking day for Fox News Media and for all journalists risking their lives to deliver the news,” said Scott.

Zakrzewski is the second journalist to be killed in Ukraine after documentary filmmaker Brent Renaud was also killed by Russian forces in a suburb of Kyiv.
