Angelina Jolie Visits Refugees In Yemen, Calling Their Situation Worse

Hollywood famous actress and UNHCR’s Special Envoy, Angelina Jolie visited a refugee camp in Yemen’s southwestern Lahj province on Monday, describing the situation as one of the worst humanitarian crises.

Jolie in a video in her Instagram account wrote that she landed in Aden, to meet displaced families and refugees for UNHCR and show her support for the people of Yemen.

“I will do my best to communicate from the ground as the days unfold,” Jolie said.

Jolie also talked about the ongoing Ukraine conflict, demanding for its immediate end. “As we continue to watch the horrors unfolding in Ukraine, and call for an immediate end to the conflict and humanitarian access, I’m here in Yemen to support people who also desperately need peace,” Jolie added.

According to Jolie, the situation here (Yemen) is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with “one civilian killed or injured every hour in 2022.”

“An economy devastated by war, and over 20 million Yeminis depending on humanitarian assistance to survive,” Jolie added.

In 2020, Jolie donated an undisclosed sum of money to a pair of British youngsters who are running a lemonade stand to raise money to help people suffering due to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
