Russian president Vladimir Putin said sanctions against Russia by Western nations are essentially declaration of war on Saturday as Russian military continued on with their invasion on Ukraine.
Putin said: These sanctions that you can see are equivalent to declaring a war – but thankfully it has not come to an actual war but we understand what these threats are about.”
Putin further warned that any attempt to create a “no-fly zone “above Ukraine would be viewed as “participation” in the deepening conflict.
Putin’s comments came as planned evacuations of two Ukrainian cities was put on hold after Russian forces violated a negotiated cease-fire.
