Ukraine President Zelenskyy Lauds Turkey’s Consistent Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday said he is grateful for Turkey’s consistent support following Russia’s invasion of the country.

In a tweet message, Zelenskyy said he held regular talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and informed about the “ongoing aggression and nuclear terrorism on the part of the Russian Federation.” Zelenskyy furthered that there should be an end to the hostilities.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Presidential Office said that the two leaders discussed the latest developments and the Russian attack during the telephonic conversation.

This comes as Ankara accelerated its diplomatic efforts to convince Russia to agree for a ceasefire as further escalation could jeopardize regional stability.

President Erdogan had earlier also said that Turkey is ready to mediate between Russia and Ukraine and said they are closely following the developments and is in close contact with both Kyiv and Moscow.

Russian in the early hours of 24 February invaded Ukraine from three main directions, north, south and east, and its troops carried full-flange attacks from air and ground.

According to the United Nation, at least 250 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and hundreds more injured so far.
