United States automobile manufacturer Ford has suspended its joint-venture operations in Russia “until further notice,” citing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Ford announced in a statement on March 1 that it has informed its partners that it was suspending its Russian operations effective immediately due to “the invasion of Ukraine and the resultant threats to peace and stability.”
Ford had already “significantly wound down” its operations in Russia before the invasion, exclusively focusing on commercial van manufacturing and sales through the Sollers Ford joint venture.
Ford noted that it does not have significant operations in Ukraine, but said that it will continue to support its “strong contingent of Ukrainian nationals” working around the world.
Ford also said that it was donating $100,000 to the Global Giving Ukraine Relief Fund to help Ukrainian refugees.
