Fighting has Broken out in the Streets of Kyiv

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that fighting has reached the streets of Kyiv as gunfire erupted in the Obolon District while blasts could be heard in the city center.

“Groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Territorial Defense Forces, hold the defense of Kyiv and previously defined lines. The enemy insidiously delivers air and artillery strikes on civilian infrastructure,” said the General Staff.

Sporadic gunshots could be heard from live webcam footage from Ukraine but there have been no major skirmishes yet.

Kyiv residents have been advised to seek shelter and have been advised to report markings on rooftops.

Ukrainian forces haved claimed they have recently downed a Russian il-76 MD and a Su-25  that were flying towards Vinnytsia.

The Ukrainian government has claimed that it has taken out 80 tanks, 516 armored combat vehicles of various types, 7 helicopters, 10 aircraft, up to 20 cruise missiles, more than 100 vehicles, and 2,800 troops since the Russian invasion began.

“There’s a lot of fake info telling that I ordered the Ukrainian army to surrender. So, listen here: I’m here. We are not putting our weapons down, we are going to protect our country. Our weapons are our truth, it’s our country, our children and we will protect them,’ said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky has reportedly refused to be evacuated with US support and said that he will remain in the country.

Russia announced that it has established full control over the city of Melitopol while it has not yet disclosed any plans of stopping the invasion.
