Ukraine has temporarily barred men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country following the introduction of martial law, according to the State Border Guard Service.
“This regulation will remain in effect for the period of the legal regime of martial law. We ask the citizens to take this information into consideration,” the State Border Guard Service said, according to CNN.
The State Border Guard Service confirmed to CBS News that the temporary ban comes as a result of the declaration of martial law following Russia’s invasion on Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a declaration late on Feb. 24, ordering a general military mobilization in capital Kyiv and other major Ukrainian cities “to ensure the defense of the state.”
