Ukraine and Russia have traded blame after an artillery shell hit a kindergarten in Stanytsia Luhanska and left two people injured.
Employees of the State Emergency Service have reportedly evacuated children and staff from the kindergarten while two gardeners have suffered from shellshock.
“With exceptional cynicism, the Russian occupation troops shelled the village of Stanytsia Luhanska in Luhansk region. As a result of the use of heavy artillery weapons by terrorists, shells hit the building of a kindergarten. According to preliminary data, two civilians received shell shock,” said the Ukrainian Joint forces Operation.
The Kremlin however blamed the shelling on the Ukrainian side and said that it was “very, very dangerous.”
“The republic calls shelling from the Ukrainian side the most active in recent months. The fire is directed at civilian infrastructure facilities and residential areas,” said Russian state outlet TASS.
According to the Ukrainian Joint forces Operation, their troops did not open fire or retaliate after the shelling.
The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) recorded multiple shelling but they have not clarified which side it was from.
