Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg announced on Feb. 16 that he has promoted Former United Kingdom Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to a new top role at the company.
Clegg is now the President of Global Affairs of Meta, the parent company of Facebook.
“Nick will now lead our company on all our policy matters, including how we interact with governments as they consider adopting new policies and regulations, as well as how we make the case publicly for our products and our work,” Zuckerberg said.
Zuckerberg added that Clegg will report directly to him and to Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg.
Sandberg said that Clegg’s promotion came at “a crucial time for our company and our industry as new rules for the internet are written all over the world, and as we set out on our journey to help build the metaverse.”
Clegg joined Facebook in Oct. 2018 as head of global affairs and communications, overseeing public relations.
Clegg served as the UK deputy prime minister as part of the coalition government from 2010 to 2015.
