Deputy US Ambassador to Moscow Bart Gorman Expelled

Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. expelled from Russia without explanation by the Kremlin.

“Russia expelled Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) to Russia Bart Gorman. Gorman was the second most important official in the US Embassy in Moscow after the ambassador and a key member of the senior leadership of the embassy,” said Jason Rebholz, spokesman for the diplomatic mission.

Rebholz added that Gorman had a valid visa and had been in Russia for less than three years.

“In response, Russia demands from American diplomats that they leave long before the expiration of the three-year stay, and gives them two weeks to leave, calling it similar measures. But this is not the same thing,” said Rebholz .

Rebholz said that the US considered Gorman’s expulsion from Russia an “escalatory step” and would be met with an appropriate response.

The Kremlin has not yet issued a statement on the expulsion of Gorman.
