Saudi Arabia Executes Egyptian Man Over Murder

The Saudi’s Ministry of Interior said in a statement that Hassan Shahat Abdel Haq Ahmed, attacked Saeed Ibrahim Mustafa Ali with a knife that resulted in his death.

Ahmed was arrested soon after he committed the crime, according to the statement, but did not specify when the murder was taken place and where.

Ahmed was referred to the Criminal Court after investigation, and he was convicted on charges of murder, the statement added.

The Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, both supported Ahmed’s death sentence and it was implemented on Monday in Mecca, Jeddah Governorate.

Last year in June, Saudi Arabia executed Mustafa bin Hashim bin Isa al-Darwish, 26, who was convicted on charges stemming from his alleged participation in an anti-government rebellion by minority Shiites.

Darwish was arrested in May 2015 over his alleged participation in protests during the Arab Spring uprisings between 2011 and 2012, according to Amnesty International.

Amnesty added at that time that the official charge sheet does not specify the dates his alleged crimes took place, meaning he could have been 17 at the time, or just turned 18.
