Amazon has released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV series.
The program is regarded as the most costly TV series ever filmed, with the first season costing $465 million — however that number includes significant one-time start-up expenditures, such as obtaining the rights to the material from J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate, creating sets, costumes, and props, and so on. The show will be 50 hours long and will have five seasons.
The Rings of Power chronicles the creation of the initial rings of power during the Second Age, which enabled the Dark Lord Sauron to spread darkness over Middle-earth. It takes place thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The teaser shows youthful versions of two popular elven characters from Jackson’s films, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo), as well as new characters for the series, such as a dwarven princess named Disa (Sophia Nomvete) and an elf named Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova).
