US Pulls Out Troops in Ukraine

The US has pulled out 160 Florida National Guard soldiers assigned to the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Ukraine.

“@SecDef has ordered the temporary repositioning of @FLGuard troops out of Ukraine. Abundance of caution, safety and security of our personnel his paramount concern. We remain committed to our relationship with the Ukrainian armed forces,” said Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs & Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby.

The 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team has been participating in training missions with Ukrainian forces away from the Russian border since 2015 while the Florida Guardsmen have entered the rotation last November.

Despite increased tensions with Russia,  US President Joe Biden said that US troops will not be fighting in Ukraine because it is not a NATO member state.
