Russia has ordered its diplomatic staff to evacuate Ukraine in order to avoid “provocations” from Kyiv or another party.
“Fearing possible provocations from the Kyiv regime or other countries we have indeed decided to optimize staffing at Russian missions in Ukraine,” said Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Zakharova however did not clarify how the staff numbers would be “optimized” but said that embassies and consulates would function as normal.
Zakharova’s statement came amid news that American officials are suspecting that Russia will attack Ukraine within the next two weeks, or Feb. 16.
Moscow has not yet confirmed or denied the US allegations while there have been no confirmed skirmishes yet.
