U.S. Figure Skater Nathan Chen Wins His First Olympic Gold

United States figure skater Nathan Chen, a three-time world champion, won his first Olympic gold on Feb. 10 at the Beijing Games.

Chen, 22, becomes the first man to bring home Olympic figure skating gold for the U.S. since the 2010 Vancouver Games and the seventh U.S. man in total.

Chen’s performance included a quad flip and triple toe loop, a quad flip, and a triple axel.

Chen told NBC that the gold medal was “heavier than I was expecting.”

“But yeah, it’s beautiful and I’m so thrilled to have it,” Chen said.
