Anthony Ramos Boards Marvel Series ‘Ironheart’

Anthony Ramos has joined the cast of Marvel’s Ironheart on Disney+.

Dominique Thorne will play Riri Williams, a talented adolescent inventor, in Ironheart. In the comics, the fan-favorite heroine created her own Iron Man costume in an MIT dorm. Riri made her debut in Invincible Iron Man No. 7 in 2016 and was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and illustrator Mike Deodato. In the comics, she has also filled in for Tony Stark as Iron Man at times.

Chinaka Hodge (TNT’s Snowpiercer) will serve as the series’ chief writer. Marvel CEO Kevin Feige initially announced the series in December 2020 as part of the studio’s increasing slate of Disney+ programming. Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac, will be the next Marvel film to hit Netflix on March 30.

Ramos rose to prominence as a member of the original Broadway company of Hamilton. Along with In the Heights, he has been in HBO’s In Treatment, Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It, and A Star Is Born. He joins Ironheart from another property, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which has completed the main filming in preparation for a 2023 release.
