Will Smith to Go ‘Pole to Pole’ for National Geographic

Will Smith will star in Pole to Pole, a series that will air on Disney+ as part of the Nat Geo hub.

The show will follow Smith and his film team on a 26,000-mile journey from the South Pole to the North Pole, traversing all of Earth’s biomes and spending time in towns along the route. The project will be shot over the course of more than 100 days; a start date and debut date have yet to be revealed.

Pole to Pole is one of several series orders revealed by Nat Geo at its presentation to the Television Critics Association on Monday. Projects created by James Cameron, Jon Favreau, and the BBC Studios Natural History Unit are among them, as is an adventure program starring magician David Blaine.

Pole to Pole will reconnect Smith and the creators from his Nat Geo series Welcome to Earth, as well as Nutopia and Protozoa Pictures. Smith executive produces with Westbrook’s Miguel Melendez and Terence Carter, Nutopia’s Jane Root and Peter Lovering, and Protozoa’s Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel.
