Louis Hofmann (Dark) will play the male lead for the Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See.
Lars Eidinger and Nell Sutton have also joined the cast of the program. They join previously cast members Aria Mia Loberti, who plays Marie-Laure, Mark Ruffalo, and Hugh Laurie.
All the Light We Cannot See is set during World War II and revolves around Marie-Laure, a blind French adolescent whose path crosses that of young German soldier Werner as they both strive to escape the war’s devastation in occupied France.
Sgt. Maj. Reinhold von Rumple (Babylon Berlin, Sense8) will be played by Eidinger, a nasty, terminally sick Nazi commander who spends his dying days searching down a fabled diamond claimed to grant its possessor perpetual life. Sutton will make her acting debut as the younger Marie-Laure, who is attentive, inquisitive, and brave. Sutton, like her character, is legally blind.
Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps is responsible for All the Light We Cannot See (Stranger Things, Free Guy). Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) is adapting Doerr’s novel and executive producing with Levy, who is also directing all four episodes of the series, and Dan Levine and Josh Barry from 21 Laps. Joe Strechay is an associate producer as well as a consultant on blindness and accessibility.
