UK Jets Scramble to Intercept Approaching Unidentified Aircraft

The UK has scrambled Typhoon jets in response to ‘unidentified aircraft’ approaching the national airspace at the north of Scotland.

The Typhoon jets have taken off from the RAF base in Scotland and were accompanied by a refueling tanker plane.

“Quick reaction alert Typhoon fighters from RAF Lossiemouth, supported by a Voyager Tanker from RAF Brize Norton, have been launched against unidentified aircraft approaching the UK area of interest.

“We will not be offering any additional detail on this ongoing operation until complete,” said the UK Defense Ministry.

There is no information on what kind of aircraft was approaching the UK or which country belonged to.

A few days ago, Russia’s Northern Fleet warships were spotted sailing around the northern coast of Norway towards an area in the Irish Sea while the UK has been criticizing Moscow for troop buildup in Ukraine.
