Russia Ready To Host Taliban, Apposition To Prevent War in Afghanistan: Envoy

The Russian envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov said his country is ready to host talks between the Taliban officials and the opposition forces in order to prevent another war in the war-hit country Afghanistan.

Talking with Russian news agency TASS, Kabulov said they are ready for hospitality if both sides are interested.

“As for visits to Moscow by representatives of both the new Afghan authorities and opposition forces, we have repeatedly confirmed our readiness to demonstrate hospitality if they are interested in that,” Kabulov said.

Meanwhile, a source in the National Resistance Force (NRF), the only resistance armed group against the Taliban, said that its leader Ahmad Massoud recently met with a key Taliban member, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Moscow.

Taliban Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bilal Krimi said they have no information about Baradar’s meeting in Moscow but neither confirmed nor rejected Baradar’s visit to Russia.

Taliban Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Mutaqqi during his recent visit to Iran, said he met with Ahmad Massoud and Ismail Khan, a jihadi leader in Tehran.

The meeting reportedlyy ended without any major breakthrough.

NRF is the only resisting group against the Taliban after the fall of Kabul to the group on August 15, and the group claims that more people were joining the organization to fight the Taliban rule.

According to NRF, they are present in several provinces and currently engaged in a war against the Taliban in Panjshir, Kapisa, Parwan, Badakhshan, Balkh, and Baghlan provinces.
