Israeli Defense Minister Arrives in Bahrain To Sign Security Agreements

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz arrived in Bahrain for a two-day visit on Wednesday to sign several security agreements aimed at further solidifying ties between the two states.

The Times Of Israel reported that Gantz is expected to sign a number of arms agreements and other defense-related sales. “Gantz, who is in his first official visit to the kingdom, will sign security agreements with his Bahraini counterpart,” the outlet added.

Gantz’s trip to Manama was not announced earlier due to security reasons, the outlet said.

Gantz is scheduled to meet with top Bahraini officials, including King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Minister of Defense Affairs Abdullah Bin Hassan Al Noaimi, before returning to Israel late Thursday night, the outlet added.

Bahrain normalized relations with Israel in 2020 as part of the Abraham Accords brokered by the US government.
