Iraqi Forces Say Turkish Aggression Will Not Go Unanswered

Iraqi resistance forces vowed on Wednesday to give a befitting response to the latest Turkish military aggression on the Arab country as it targeted civilians as well as violated the country’s sovereignty.

The Secretary-General of Iraq’s Asa’ib Ahl Al-Haq movement, which is a part of Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), Qais Al-Khazali warned Ankara aggression will not go unanswered and the resistance fighters are preparing for an adequate response.

Al-Khazali condemned Turkey’s repeated violations of Iraqi sovereignty on Twitter, accusing Turkey of targeting civilian populated areas.

“Blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty continues by the Turkish government in the wake of the Iraqi government’s deplorable silence,” Al-Khazali wrote.

He warned that Iraqi resistance fighters will give a tough lesson to the Turkish forces as he said they no longer can tolerate Turkish barbaric bombardment on a refugee camp which is a direct target against civilians.

Sirwan Barzani, a commander of Kurdish Peshmerga forces confirmed that Turkish airstrikes targeted the surroundings of the Makhmour refugee camp and a base belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militant group in Mount Qarachogh.

Barzani said that casualties and material damage occurred as a result of the airstrikes.

PKK is designated as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States, and European Union, and Turkish security forces have regularly engaged in clashes with them in the Kurdish-dominated Southeast of Turkey which has a border with Iraq.
