Angela Rye, a political consultant, and analyst have joined ESPN as a special reporter.
According to ESPN, Rye, the CEO of political advocacy and social equality business IMPACT Strategies, would “offer insight on sports-related problems of race and culture, as well as social justice issues.” Rye will also appear in the studio and produce stories for ESPN Black History Always.
Rye, who was formerly a CNN political pundit and a regular on the renowned radio show The Breakfast Club, will continue to present her podcast On One with Angela Rye alongside her ESPN job.
“Angela is one of the most talented and distinctive commentators of race and culture working today,” said David Roberts, ESPN senior vp for NBA & studio production, in a statement. “Her strong connection and commitment to the Black community will serve this series of vitally important stories on African American athletes making history and a positive difference throughout the year. We are thrilled she decided to join the ESPN family and look forward to collaborating.”
