Fox is seeking witness protection in connection with its most recent project, Call Me Kat.
The network has ordered a pilot presentation for a comedy project from writer-executive producer Michelle Nader (Hulu’s Dollface, CBS’ 2 Broke Girls), who will also direct. The unnamed project, which Fox is considering as a possible companion to Call Me Kat, is a buddy comedy about two women who are placed in the witness protection program.
The show, a combination of single-camera and multi-camera humor, is being produced in-house by Fox Entertainment. Nader negotiated a direct blind script contract with the corporation in 2021, which resulted in this project.
The prospective series is around two long-time best friends and city ladies who have reached a crossroads in their relationship. They are forced to recreate themselves in the off-the-grid village of Doonesland after being placed in the witness protection program. They must make the most of a terrible position with a burgeoning drug gang on their tail since the stakes are practically life and death.
Nader is presently the showrunner for Dollface, whose second season premieres on Hulu on February 11. She was an executive producer and writer on 2 Broke Girls, and her other TV credits include B Positive, Kath & Kim (which she developed), Spin City, and Dharma & Greg.
