Six Missiles Hit US Military Base in Iraqi Airport

At least six missiles landed in the Baghdad International Airport near an adjacent US Army’s Victory Base, damaging one civilian airplane..

Without giving further details a source told Shafaq News that the missiles were landed in the runaway, at 4:30 am today. The source also confirmed that several airplanes were damaged in the attack.

An Iraqi police source said only one Iraqi Airways plane, which was out of use, was damaged in the attack.

The anti-missile defense system of the airport was reportedly able to destroy several other missiles.

The US airbase, known as Camp Victory, is located around the perimeter of Baghdad’s civilian airport.

Meanwhile, some explosions were also heard in the Al-Karkh area of ​​Baghdad which is near to the Victory’s base, the source added.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the US and some Iraqi officials blamed Iranian-backed Shiite militia groups who oppose the US presence in the region and attacked the airport several times in the past.
