Pakistani Army on Friday confirmed that 10 soldiers were killed when terrorists attacked their checkpoint in Kech district of the restive southwestern Balochistan province on Thursday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, in a statement said that the “fire raid by terrorists occurred on the night of January 25-26.”
During intense exchange of fire, one terrorist was also killed and several others injured in the incident.
Pakistani security forces have already arrested three terrorists in the follow-up clearance operation but there is no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack by any group.
“Armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorists from our soil no matter what the cost,” the statement added.
Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack, assuring he will rid Pakistan of all forms of terrorism.”
“Our brave soldiers continue to lay down their lives to keep us safe from terrorists. I salute the 10 martyred soldiers who repulsed a terrorist fire raid on a checkpoint in Kech Balochistan. We are resolute in our commitment to rid Pakistan of all forms of terrorism,” Khan said in a tweet.
