Immigrant, a mini-series on Hulu about the father of Chippendales announced it is expanding its cast.
Annaleigh Ashford (B Positive, Impeachment: American Crime Story) has joined the cast of the eight-part drama. She’ll appear in the series alongside Kumail Nanjiani and Murray Bartlett, which is produced by Disney’s 20th Television and created by Robert Siegel (Pam & Tommy).
Immigrant follows Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Nanjiani), the Indian-American entrepreneur who founded Chippendales. The series will tell the narrative of the male striptease cabaret, which is both darkly humorous and crime-ridden.
Ashford will portray Irene Banerjee, Steve’s wife and an accountant who fell in love through a mutual interest in tax loopholes and revenue increase. Shy and humble at first, she gradually finds her place within the firm, eventually blossoming into a powerful behind-the-scenes force.
Nick De Noia, Steve’s business partner and the guy responsible for changing Chippendales from a gritty West L.A. neighborhood, is played by Bartlett (The White Lotus). strip club to the global phenomenon that it is today.
